Ookamikakushi 9 - Behind Closed Doors

Lets the game of truth started. Sakaki throwed a knife inside the cage and closed the door, leaving Hiro and the tied up Nemuru all alone inside. A spark of lightning struck, as Hiro saw Nemuru instantly transformed into her wolf kannon form and started attacking Hiro only to realize it was all an illusion for him. After much of waiting, finally Nemuru decided to tell everything Hiro need to know; about her fate being born in Kushinada's lineage, the rules and why those murders are necessary, the kamibito, and jouga's counting rhyme.
The jouga people, aka most people in the town are the kamibito and they're attracted to a special scent came off from what they call the fallen/mitsu (Hiro is such people). And Hiro is a special case as he gave off a very strong scent, which made it even harder for the kamibito to resist. Even more reason for the people to eliminate him, as all kamibitos that are drawn to Hiro's scent are robbed of their reason, even Nemuru is no exception.

The next day, both Hiro and Nemuru were absent. Worried, Kaname visit Hiro's home only to find that he had not go home last night, although his dad never showed any sign of worry because Sakaki already phoned him to tell that Hiro's going to stay at his place with study as an excuse. On her way home, she almost stumbled with Kasai and found out what's about to happen to Hiro and Nemuru. She then ran off to get help from Hiro's father who later met Nemuru father's group, who also on a search for Nemuru after being told by Shigetsu who was earlier killed by Kasai for breaching their rules. Back to Nemuru and Hiro, he untied Nemuru's rope even knowing that Nemuru might not be able to resist the temptation and might attacked him. Nemuru used the knife to injure herself and divert her temptation, and she eventually manage to resist until they were found by their father...

Comments: I totally did not expect this kind of development lol. Good thing it's just a nightmare. Nemuru's explanation this episode along with Kaname's counting rhymes really helps understanding a lot of puzzles in Ookamikakushi. The reason why Hiro gave off a strong fallen, or the role of the red moon weren't fully revealed, but at least we know why the Kamibito were attracted to the fallen/mitsu. How he was popular in class. How Isuzu easily attracted to him. And then Nemuru herself (her notion of Hiro's existence as a "disturbance"). Not to forget Issei's girlfriend which was a fallen like Hiro then become a kamibito (and her increased sense of smell) upon contact with Issei. Anyway, it's good to see Isuzu fine. I guess what needs to be done in future episodes is to finish things off with Sakaki and Kasai (and a bit more on Kaori too). Did I saw the berserked Issei's girlfriend on the day of Hassaku Festival?

On a side note, I absolutely love the BGM used so far, one of the favorites since Pandora Hearts :3

  • One, they aren't gods or humans
  • Two, those who break the rules. those who fall from the heavens become demons.
  • Three, the temptation is a fragrance. they writhe in fleeting dreams.
  • Four, the jouga wolves are spoken of sadly and ephemerally.
