Doujin Work

Dōjin Work (ドージンワーク, Dōjin Wāku?) is a Japanese four-panel comic strip written and illustrated by Japanese manga author Hiroyuki. The story revolves around a young girl named Najimi Osana who is about to make her debut into the dōjin creation world with the help of her experienced friends. Aspects of what it is like to be a dōjin artist are common themes throughout the story. The manga was first serialized in the Japanese seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Carat on November 28, 2004, published by Houbunsha. Since then, the manga has also been serialized in two other magazines published by the same company named Manga Time Kirara and Manga Time Kirara Forward. An anime adaptation began airing on the Chiba TV television network in Japan on July 4, 2007.

wikipedia

This is another new series I starting to grow my interest into. Both the manga and anime chapters/episodes are quite short (12-14 minutes for anime episode, 4koma style for manga), and currently the anime has been subbed till episode 3.

Plot Summary: Doujin Work follows the life of a young girl named Najimi Osana and her exposure into the doujin world. She was first tempted into becoming a doujin artist after seeing how much one of her friends can make at a convention. Najimi loves to draw, though soon learns contrary to what she expected that this new world is anything but easy. As she attends more conventions and meets more people, Najimi eventually manages to find a group of very interesting friends. These friends already have some experience in the field and help her out along the way so that she can someday make a name for herself creating doujinshi.

Hm...my first impression: The lenght is short, just like REC, so I guess I'll give this a shot when I first found this anime being released. The OP at first sounds weird, but somehow I gradually loves it :3, and now the full version already available for download. The content is exactly as the summary says, most importantly, it's very hilarious :3, and somewhat ecchi in every episode, not in term of content, but concept lol. I'm suprised to find that Tsuyuri is a university student ;;

The OP, I~Jan! Yuujou (Maki)

Episode 1 (It's short, so the whole episode can fit 10 minutes slot)

nothing particularly interesting about this character song CD, except some good song (especially Hinagiku theme "Power of Flower"). Each have almost 98 tracks, quantitatively dominated by insert character voice, plus some names I've never heard before in the series.

Manchester United: updated

Newcomers
As of current, sir Alex Ferguson has made 3 new signing during the transfer window period: Luis Nani (Sporting Lisbon), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich) and Anderson (Porto). Plus there is possibility that Man Utd will make another hit on Carlos Tevez (West Ham), though they still face some problems regarding this matter. With these signing, I believe Man Utd will become another force to be reckon with next season, and I hope it won't be like season 2001-2002; spending a hefty tag on Nistelrooy, Veron but unable to secure the title. Anyway, I expect some competition in midfield place, since they already have some good players like Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo and Carrick.

New Jersey
so now they have another new jersey, which have been worn during the Asian Tour match against Shenzhen. Basically there's not much change in the jersey, still mantain the red theme (and blue for goalkeeper), the only major change that I see is the white stripe at the back of the jersey, with I found rather weird.
It's plain red, very little white and the badge looks like it has been stitched on at the very end and is also a similar size to the Nike logo. The AIG sponsorship logo dominates the top. At the bottom side of the shirt, there's another sew on patch which reads, 'The Red Devils'. On the back of the shirt is a white line at the top and at the bottom. It's a shirt you'll probably love or hate :3

Asian Tour/Friendlies
Before commencing their 2007-2008 campaign, Man Utd have some friendly matches against some Asian club. They start it with a 2-2 draw against Urawa Red Diamonds, then beat FC Seoul 4-0, beat Shenzhen 6-0 and latest, lost 2-3 to Port Vale (reserve match). 3 matches left for them, against Guangzhou, Inter Milan and Doncaster. In the match against Shenzhen, Chris Eagles scores a goal with spectacular volley, while Nani also scores in this match (his debut), followed by his trademark somersault goal celebration.
Well at first Man Utd had planned to come to Malaysia, unfortunately it clash with the Asian Cup, thus was prohibited by Malaysian authority from coming, scared that it'll draw the attention away from the Asian Cup lol. What an excuses to made, let alone Malaysia did terribly poor in Asian Cup. Well, at least it'll save Malaysian team from being humiliated 6, 8, 10 goals from Man Utd :3

冬旅行 (Travel of Winter)

I spent 5 days from 11 to 15 July on my Winter Trip, travelling across Eastern/South Eastern Australia. 30 people participate in this trip, of which 3 of them are non-Adelaidean (1 from Perth, 1 Melbourne and 1 Canberra). With the initial cost of $180 per person, 2 cars and 2 vans were reserved for this trip, and our destination includes Canberra, Sydney, Mount Buller and Melbourne.

Day 1 (Wednesday, July 11th) - Starting Point - Canberra
Nothing much happened here, it was a lenghty journey from Adelaide to Canberra (around 14+ hours), with 5 shift drivers and co-driver. I spent my day sleeping most of the time, since I didn't had any sleep the night before (recapping Zero no Tsukaima :333). I only stay put on the 4th shift, since I was scheduled to be the co-driver for one of the van. We arrive at Bro Aie' gramps bro house at Canberra around 4am.

Day 2 (Thursday, July 12th) - Canberra
After breakfast and some rejuvenator, we went straight to Malaysian Embassy building . I went to that place first ahead of everybody, along with both Ihsan and P-dut because of Ihsan passport renewal matter. Finish with that, we continue with Canberra exploration, starting with the Parliament house, Australian National University, and War Memorial. Nothing really interesting at Parliament House, and we're only stop by ANU Uni signboard, not even going inside lol. And, one place in war Memorial reminds me of Hall of Valhalla... We finish about 3 pm, we bid our farewell to Ehsan Canberra, because he'll be staying. Next stop: Sydney

Day 3 (Friday, July 13th) - Sydney
We arrive at Sydney as early as 10pm the day before at Puncbowl, New South Wales and manage to get a shelter at a local mosque. Since everyone is terribly exhausted, we decide to call it day and sleep early, so that today we'll have enough energy to explore Sydney. Before going to sleep, I was scheduled to prepare the meal for breakfast. Then I went to sleep, unfortunately it's not as peace as I thought. Someone' snoring really annoy me that I couldn't sleep properly...

OK, enough of that. In the morning, we decide not to go to the main city by out vehicles, instead we're using the train because of the possibility traffic congestion. First place that we went upon landed on the City is Market City, a place where I can call market in the mall, with various cheap goodies. Then we took a lenghty walk to the place where we can view the Sydney Bridge and the famous Opera House from a ferry. Looking at the construction of Sydney Opera House, in my point of view, there's nothing really attract me about this Opera House, aside from it's fancy domes design.

Finish with Sydney, next we're planning to play with snow (ski, snowboard etc) at Mount Buller. However, due to distance restriction, we decided to change location to Perishe Valley, near Cooma. Thus, we had a night somewhere near Cooma....

Day 4 (Saturday, July 14th) - Snowy Mountain, Perishe Valley
We start the day with sleeping inside the cars/vans, except for 3 people who are willingly sleep outside: me, Faku and Omar. It was a freezing field outside, yet I insist on sleeping outside due to certain reason :33 And when I woke up, my spectacle already frozen, as well as the sleeping bags. To make thing worse, the water available at nearby toilet is either extremely hot or extremely cold to the bone. I can't feel my hand anymore~ huhu

In the morning, we're preparing for snowy mountain, renting necessary equipment. I choose to rent Ski, since I thought it'll be similar to using roller-blade. Some others choose snowboard, while the rest go for tobaggoo. It takes around half an hour to reach the main point of the mountain...

I'm still noob at Ski, since this is my first time, but I didn't expect the Ski shoes to be that heavy that it heavily restrict my movement... In the end I still manage to pull out some cruise on the Ski, though eventually I lost balance and fell :33 Even though it's enjoyable, Skiing is very tiring, especially with this heavy boots. Then I had my lunch at nearby resting area, spending almost $20 on Kebabs, Burger and flame grilled chicken, huhu. We stop at around 2, before proceeding to our final stop, Melbourne

Before commencing our journey, we decided to take alternative route to Melbourne, without even knowing what it looks like. Only then we realize that that route is some mountain path which is very similar to Bukit Putus in N9, but is more extreme (a one way, nonproper road with no divider, very deep ravine on sideroad, no mobile phone line, wildlife such as rabbit, wombat and kangaroos trespassing...), it sure is a nightmare should we stranded on these route. Luckily we made it through the path safely...

Day 5 (Saturday, July 15th) - Melbourne
So what left now is going to Moe before arriving at Melbourne. I'm looking forward to capture some pictures in Moe (lol), unfortunately I fell asleep, huhu. We spend the night at nearby Mosque, before proceeding to one of the Malaysian student house to start our exploration. We start with going to Victoria Market, where I bought some clothes and souvenir, then going to DFO Spencer Street and Southern Cross, where I was bored and got nothing to do except enjoying the scenery (lol), eating some delicious flame chicken at Coburg Chicken & Chips, and finally, shopping at a surprisingly cheap store called "Savers". Too bad time really restrict me to explore more in Melbourne...Well it's not that I can't go to Melbourne on other day....

So that conclude my main Winter Trip. We start going back to Adelaide around 7pm by sending Shahir back to his hostel, and continue the 10 hour ride to Adelaide. I'm the co-driver for the last 3 hour shift. We arrive at Wandana mosque, Adelaide around 6 am Monday 16th June, before gathering at Hampstead Garden for some feedback session....

Overall, though it's an enjoyable trip, I still wish that I could explore more, since the time is very limited. Plus, I slept in the vans/cars most of the time, thus unable to enjoy much of the scenery along the journey :333 I hope next year trip will be more enjoyable...

New 7 Wonders (pt 2)

So the New 7 Wonders of The World have been elected from 21 contestants yesterday (Saturday 7/7/07). Academy Award-winning British actor Ben Kingsley announced the winners at a glitzy international show at Portugal's largest venue, the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon. They're:

Chichén Itzá, Mexico
This step-pyramid surmounted by a temple survives from a sacred site that was part of one of the greatest Mayan centers of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. Built according to the solar calendar, it is placed so that shadows cast at the fall and spring equinoxes are said to look like a snake crawling down the steps, similar to the carved serpent at the top.

Christ Redeemer, Brazil
The 125-foot-tall statue of Christ the Redeemer with outstretched arms overlooks Rio de Janeiro from atop Mt. Corcovado. The statue, which weighs more than 1,000 tons, was built by Polish-French sculptor Paul Landowski in pieces in France starting in 1926, then shipped to Brazil. The pieces were carried by cogwheel railway up the mountain for assembly. The statue was inaugurated in 1931.

The Great Wall, China
The 4,160-mile barricade running from east to west in northern China is the longest man-made structure in the world. The fortification, which largely dates from the 7th through the 4th century B.C., was built to protect the dynasties from invasion by the Huns, Mongols, Turks and other nomadic tribes.

Machu Picchu, Peru
Built by the Incan Empire in the 15th century, the giant walls, palaces, temples and dwellings of the Machu Picchu sanctuary are perched in the clouds at 8,000 feet above sea level in the Andes mountains. It remains a mystery how the huge stones were moved into place for the construction of the remote city.

Petra, Jordan
The ancient city of Petra in southwestern Jordan, built on a terrace around the Wadi Musa or Valley of Moses, was the capital of the Arab kingdom of the Nabateans. It also flourished under Roman rule after the Nabateans were defeated in A.D. 106. The city is famous for its water tunnels and numerous stone structures carved in rock, the most impressive of which is probably Ad-Dayr, an uncompleted tomb facade that served as a church during Byzantine times.

The Roman Colloseum, Italy
The giant amphitheater in Rome was inaugurated in A.D. 80 by the Emperor Titus in a ceremony of games lasting 100 days. The 50,000-seat Colosseum, which has influenced the design of modern sports stadiums, was an arena where thousands of gladiators dueled to the death and Christians were fed to the lions.

The Taj Mahal, India
The white marble-domed mausoleum in Agra was built by Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan between 1632 and 1654 for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. The complex - an example of Mughal architecture combining Indian, Persian, and Islamic styles - houses the graves of the emperor and his wife, as well as those of lesser royalty.

The new list of World wonders was made by 100 million votes across the world. Looking at the result an important factor for the winners is their symbolism and not how difficult their construction was. However, The pyramids in Giza will retain their status as one of the original seven wonders of the world.

It's been quite some time since I download this album...well her voice is sweet (but less sweet than Sakura Saori :3), I first know her when I'm searching for Tamashii no Refrain by Youko Takahashi, where I accidentally stumble upon the same song, sang by Shimokawa Mikuni. Curiosity led me to download this album....

Epic Combo

Talk about epic combo...this remind me of various games combo I've watch on youtube etc. Some are even seems impossible to be done unless with careful planning and delicate control of button.
What makes a combo video good? For me, first it must be technically awesome, and if its coupled with BGM, it must blend well with the video. Talk about timing... And lastly, combos which don't use much cheat (either gameshark etc or use training mode)
Anyway, some of my favorite games combo video:

Devil May Cry

Hinokakera

Nene Samurai Warriors

Onimusha 3 Demon Siege

And my most favorite video...Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria by EtherealSky. These video are simply awesome (from my pount of view). The BGM used syncronized very well with the movies, the combination of attacks use are cool, though sometimes not practical in real battle.
1. Code_Valkyrie. BGM Ayane: Private Place
2. Cool Edition. BGM Kuwatani Natsuko: Cool Edition
3. Manifest Destiny. BGM Katakiri Rekka & Shimotsuki Haruka: Wail of Soul

There're a lot more in my stash, like Star Ocean 3, God of War, DotA, MMORPG and much more...
