3 Down!

November 8th - Biochemistry II (Biotechnology) B final exam, Wayville Pavillion.
November 15th - Principle of Biotechnology final exam, Wayville Pavillion
November 20th - Immunology&Virology II (Biotechnology) final exam, Wayville Pavilion.
Owow, finally the day I've longed for. Although I only have 3 subjects for this exam, they're still a pain in the arse, considering the amount of notes need to be revised over and over again because everything are interconnected to each other. Especially for this final subject, Microbiology: Virology&Immunity where everything I learnt from the first lecture till the last have their own significance; where things learnt from one lecture are pretty much need to be applied to the other (Immune system, Complement, Inflammatory response, Lymphocyte differentiation and development....).
As for the exam paper itself....uh I don't know how should I describe the paper. Yes I can answer all questions, but I feel that the exam questions for this paper aren't enough to reflect everything that I learnt in this course. 40 MCQs, of which the final 10 questions are filled with a bunch of "complex" theories. Then 8 short answered questions, 5 marks each...So the total marks for this exam are 80 marks. Not enough I'd say. I feel like elaborating each and every concepts centered around the questions, but given the 2 hours time, this isn't something I suppose to do. No wonder my upperclassmen said "Biotech is hard to fail, but also hard to score".

okay enough ranting, exam is over anyway, and I just hope I won't have to take any supp exam. In the meantime, all I need to do is enjoy this 3 months break to its fullest :D

2 Down

November 8th - Biochemistry II (Biotechnology) B final exam, Wayville Pavillion.
November 15th - Principle of Biotechnology final exam, Wayville Pavillion
November 20th - Immunology&Virology II (Biotechnology) final exam, Wayville Pavilion.

Another final exam paper finished today, leaving one subject left. Review of today's paper, Principle of Biotechnology: Pre-exam, my head almost went exploding because some of the lecture notes are freaking hard to understand, especially Microbial Biotechnology part. I hate memorizing useless theories after all. Post exam: phew, the paper was surprisingly okay, at least I'm confident that I won't take supp exam lol. Brian O'Neil calculation part gives me headache because I've long left arithmetic field since I last took the subject 2 years ago D:
And there's this one question about plant biotechnology....
A farmer has approached you with $500,000 and wants you to produce transgenic canola plants that have improved resistance than what is currently achievable through conventional breeding within a timeframe of 3 to 5 years. He understands that these transgenic lines will not be ready for him at that time point given the tight regulatory constraints that are imposed within Australia and that this would require even more money thereafter. Regardless of these regulatory constraints, outline a detailed research plan (from tissue culture, to construct development, through to the actual transformation process) that will enable you to successfully obtain that funding.
"WHAT THE- I'm not planning to be a plant biotechnologist ffs, and they give me this question? How the heck would I answer this!!!!?"
....is what I would say :3 Well it's true I'm really not into plant biotech, but the infos learnt from this field are important too. And luckily me and my colleagues already discussed about this type of question before, so I had no problem answering this question :3

Regardless, one subject left which is Microbiology - Immunity&Virology this Thursday. In the meantime, I've already ordered my XBOX 360 and hopefully it'll arrive by the time I finished my exam. IU and ToV, HERE I CAAAAAAAME!

One Down

November 20th - Immunology&Virology II (Biotechnology) final exam, Wayville Pavilion.

Ah...what's better than finishing your final exam paper? 1 paper is finished, 2 more to go. The Biochemistry paper today isn't that bad, most of the questions are within my grasp of knowledge (and I have confidence in my answers), although I find 2 hours and 30 minutes is barely enough to finish all 15 questions (but still, I saw someone leaving the exam hall at just 1 hour and 15 minutes mark o_O, though I can pretty much expect what he really do to his paper). Drawing/diagram part for RNA synthesis termination is okay, I bet many people would not expect this since the ribosome template has been used so many times in the past but instead of asking about translational termination like this one, they mostly ask for factors involved in peptide elongation :D
And there's a fairly "long" gap between today's paper and the next on 15th, so I can pretty much take a day or two of break. Though, I am quite nervous facing Biotech paper, because they are friggin hard D:

nevertheless, I need to enjoy tonight at its fullest, especially since my internet quota has been recharged. Ironically, just like one year ago, there's also Arsenal vs Manchester United match tonight. How coincidence is that :3

ps: something seems wrong with my keyboard these recent days. I can't seem to use spacebar, and some other hotkeys were redirected to some strange button configuration ("spacebar"+"z"+"x" = Help Topic in notepad. wtf?). Time to buy a new keyboard I guess =.=
