[DotA] Mind Games vol.6

totallnewbie is quite renowned for his "Art of Mind Games" compilation. After quite a while, finally he comes out with his 6th video. The quality of the highlights are good, but to be honest I prefer his Mind Games vol.5 than this one, mainly because of the uber synchronize with the music in vol.5. But still, overall all his video are enjoyable to watch :3

his description:
The Art of Mindgames Vol.6: Commentary and Descriptions

0:08 – 0:33
My friend was playing CM, and I was the tidehunter. Pretty self-explanatory scene, demonstrating great prediction and a well-timed blink dodge. The reason why we didn’t turn around to kill Razor and Centaur is because CM was out of mana.

0:34 – 1:21
A battle in the forest. I sorta waste my blink a little bit too early because I didn’t want to get hit by the neutral creep’s stomp, and to avoid taking any additional damage. Anyway, I turn back around and lure the Naix while my allies go after Undying. Notice the direction that I run in when Naix is chasing me. I don’t run towards my allies, but rather away from them. This is done to give Naix a sense of security so he won’t retreat too fast. I pull out the blink again at the last possible moment with 2HP remaining, and proceed to own him.

1:22 – 1:58
This took place shortly after a battle in mid lane. I’m pretty low on mana, and my teammates don’t have their ultimates. I can’t kill the pugna 1v1, so I was just disabling him, stalling time for my allies to come help. I didn’t really expect the pugna to do what he did after coming down from the cyclone, but I reacted JUST in time to avoid death. See the time difference between my blink and the time you see the hawk explode. Quite a close call I must say…

1:59 – 3:39
This is quite a long scene. It shows how much of a difference you can make, and how you can still contribute to the team with very low amounts of HP.

After my illusion dies, I see that DK is out of mana and my ally (weaver) is on the way. I blink up to him with less than 300HP, and fight until I would have died in 1 more hit. I was going to retreat right there, but then DK would probably be able to get away from the weaver. I turned around and chased him back, despite my low HP. As a result, DK ends up making a total ass out of himself and gets raped in the funniest way possible.

I still have under 200HP, and Drow pops out of nowhere. I blink up and chase again, trying to repeat the same procedure. I kinda wasted a cyclone, but I didn’t want to risk getting criticaled and dying. After that, I still have 200HP and a terrorblade carrying a radiance comes into our vision. I blink up and chase again. I mana voided a second too late after he got the sunder off on weaver, but it’s all good. He used time lapse and got his HP back.

After the sunder, I thought for sure that he would turn around and hit me to try and get the kill (at this point, I’m at 130HP). He choose not to do it, and it was a good decision on his part. Earthshaker would have hit with his enchant totem, and it would have resulted in his death. Seeing that he is on the run, I blinked up and chased him again. I cycloned him for my allies to catch up, and got out of the range of the radiance immolation with less than 20HP remaining.

3:40 - 4:33
My vid just wouldn’t be complete without a Bristleback scene, so here it is.

Most people would just run back after the void retreated back to his ally. I, on the other hand, saw an opportunity there, and I took it. I dodge the axes, kill the BM, dodge the timewalk, survived his hit with less than 30HP remaining, and had just enough mana for a Quill Spray to kill the Void.

4:34 – 6:01
Before I get into anything, I would like to direct your attention to my items. I basically have nothing except boots, 6HP regen, and a stout. I’m not buff in any way. I will also tell you what items the opponents have. You can tell that the Void already has a MoM after he timewalked over. He also had treads and some wraiths as well. The Jakrio had boots and couple of null talismans.

Void timewalks over and activates MoM. This is obviously an indication that he’s going to use Chronosphere. I blink out of the way. I walk back up to the void, and take away his remaining mana so he couldn’t time walk. After I blink out, I have 270HP, compared to Void’s and Jakiro’s HP of around 850. Void has no mana, and Jakiro has around 500 mana out of 900. Right now, I can probably safely say that nobody in their right mind would fight those 2 heroes with an anti-mage, taking into account the differences in HP and items.

When I saw Jakiro going to cut me off, I knew I had a chance to kill both of them. When they split up, I no longer have to worry about the other character, and I can just deal with them individually 1 on 1. With a versatile skill like blink, you maintain good control of the battle. There is really nothing to worry about, especially if your opponents lack mana. If I kept them separated, that would increase my chances of getting 2 kills. Notice that I run in a way that sorta makes them stay apart.

After getting out of the aggro range of the enemy creeps, I turn around and exchange hits with the void. I blink out after I see Jakiro pop up. They separate again trying to cut me off. I see that, turn around in the fog of war to get in a few more cheap shots on void. I could have killed void right now with a mana void, but I wanted to save it for Jakiro. I blink away again after a while because Jakiro would appear soon. Now, Jakiro tries to hit me with Dual Breath by clicking on the ground, but unfortunately, I’m not the type of player that runs away back to base so fast. I blink over, drain his remaining mana, and void him for the kill. 1 down, 1 to go.

At this point, I have 200HP, and IIRC, the void had around 375HP. I turn around and abuse the fog again, getting a couple more hits in on void than he could get in on me. I knew that I couldn’t win if I kept exchanging hits, so I blinked out with 140HP and let my Regen kick in. Notice that I have 1 ranged creep hitting the void the entire time, which made a huge difference as it took off about 40HP from him. I run around until my HP is back up to 200. Now I’m quite confident that I would be able to kill him. My instincts were right, and I survive with 50HP. That extra 60HP I gained from my regen was the deciding factor in the battle. Sure he could have got lucky and got a bash off, but I could have gotten lucky and blocked some damage with my stout. It was a risk I was willing to take, especially since my chance to block is higher than his chance to bash. In the end, his bash didn’t trigger, and neither did my stout.

This is one of the song from fall anime series which is included in my current favorite playlist. Unfortunately, from episode 1 inspection of the anime (Prism Ark), I can say that the series isn't as impressed as the OP and ED. Perhaps story-wise is good, but some of the character design looks pretty lame to me, with the hero in episode 1 (who wield the sword) with his cloud-looking hairstyle. But still, I need to watch at least several episode before I can fully jugde this series and decide whether I should continue or drop from watching this.

[DotA] Virtus.Pro compilation

Virtus.pro isn't any ordinary clan. They're currently one of the greatest - perhaps the best after beating MYM in MYM Pride#7 Grand Finals- clan in the world. This Russian team consist of Vigoss, Admiration, NS, Jolie, Sahka and Smile. Watching this video highlight can only show us part of their awesomeness, so search for their replay to see their prowess in detail, individually and teamwork. Their first member that I know is vigoss when I watch one of his replay in an IHCS game.

[Saimoe] Final result

  • 1位 1521票 古手梨花@ひぐらしのな頃に(Furude Rika@Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
  • 2位 1499票 三千院ナギ@ハヤテのごとく!(Sanzenin Nagi@Hayate the Combat Butler)

Seeing Nagi' loss, of course it's a zetsubou for me, but still, congrats to Rika for defying all the obstacle and become the Champion of Saimoe 2007. No one really think that Rika can become the champion at the start of the tournament, at the start of the group stage, and even at the start of quarter final. But she has done it, thanks to the gaijins and the not-so-interesting route to the final.
The match went pretty much tail to tail, even though in the final half Rika have a slightly more votes than Nagi, while Nagi speed up in the final hours. The gaijins proves to be the differences again in this match.

Character: Foreign/Japan/Total
Nagi: 291/1208/1499
Rika: 435/1086/1521

Frankly speaking this year Saimoe lack festivity compared to last year. The heat that the tournament have especially in last year quarter final and final is dearly missed in this tournament. Mainly because many top guns (eg: Fate, Suiginto, Kagami, perhaps Hinagiku or Maria too) were eliminated too early because of group seeding, fake/hate votes etc. The final 4 isn't even something everyone dream of (even though my Nagi advance to final). The total vote for final just marginally reach 3000, still not something comparable to Rena-Kagami match.

So we will meet again in Saimoe 2008. Rozen maiden is almost certain to miss (unless another series come out before mid-year), and new series will compete with the current star (HiguKai, Hayate no Gotoku, Nanoha StrikerS, Lucky Star etc).
For totally new series, so far my current pick for 2008 saimoe would be Mayu&Reika (Goshusho Sama Ninomiya-kun), Aoi (Myself; Yourself), Fuko&Kotomi (Clannad)....now lets see what Winter Anime series offer for us.

[exam] One Down

finally, some break from Saimoe blogging, but in reality it's the day when my final exam has come. Today is Bio: Human Perspective final exam, a subject of which I went less than half of the lectures. Frankly speaking, I'm struggling quite a bit at first when I start revising because the lecture notes is too simple, yet overloaded with various scientific term which I need to memorize. But after doing some past year exam/revision, I started to get the idea of the whole lectures, though I still miss some parts.
And today is the paper, 1.50pm-5pm at Wayville Showground. The exam question is....well, unexpectedly not easy I can say. Even though I manage to answer most questions, there are some part where I don't think I can score well. Gene Therapy section really give me a headache, same goes for Cancer Genetic. And they even ask for some totally memorizing questions (Cell Ion conc, Oxygen dissociation in Hemoglobin graph...) Uh....now I need to get some real rest before starts revising for the next paper, Statistical Life Science this Monday. But before that, I need to enjoy Manchester United vs Arsenal tonight (Foxtel here I caaaaaame!!!!)

[Saimoe] Semi2 result/FINAL!

有効コードがある票の順位
  1. 1位 1372票 古手梨花@ひぐらしのな頃に [ Furude Rika @ Higurashi no Naku Koro ni ]
  2. 2位 1367票 真紅@ローゼンメイデン オーベルテューレ [ Shinku @ Rozen Maiden Ouverture ]

oh my goodness, 5 freakin votes separating the result, causing uproar to RM-faction for failing to make it 3 years in a row in the finals. Looking at the graph, it's surprising to see that Shinku never seem to be able to give much threat to Rika, since Rika leads steadily for the whole days, but Shinku was able to get some boost i vote in the final 2 hours, just 5 votes short to change the result. Shinku was unfortunate this time, she was bombed with massive fake votes from...? No idea. Anti-RM who don't want another doll in the final, or simply Higurashi fan (or Rena fan).

Character: Foreign/Japan/Total
Rika: 380/992/1372
Shinku: 221/1148/1367

With this, we have a totally new series+character in the Saimoe final: Sanzenin Nagi (Hayate no Gotoku) vs Furude Rika (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni), a yet-another loli battle.

The final will takes place starting tonight =)

btw, lets see some statistic so far, the ranking of average votes a character get from the prelim till the day they were eliminated:
  • 1. Kagami Hiiragi - 1426.333-
  • 2. Suigintou - 1394.25
  • 3. Tsukasa Hiiragi - 1390
  • 4. Fate T. Harlaown - 1368
  • 5. Ryuuguu Rena - 1262.666667
  • 6. Shinku - 1248.333333
  • 7. Edomae Runa - 1197.333333
  • 8. Takamachi Nanoha - 1156.2
  • 9. Sanzenin Nagi - 1150.5 (so far)
  • 10. Suiseiseki - 1148.25
  • 11. Louise - 1117.2
  • 12. Seto San - 1101.333333
  • 13. Izumi Konata - 1036.2
  • 14. Furude Rika - 1036 (so far)

[Saimoe]Semi1 result/Semi2 preview

Semifinal 1
  1. 1位 1301票 三千院ナギ@ハヤテのごとく!(Sanzenin Nagi@Hayate the Combat Butler)
  2. 2位 1209票 竜宮レナ@ひぐらしのなく頃に(Ryuuguu Rena@Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
Nagi, with all her wealth bribe her way to victory :3 Finally Rena was unable to take Nagi home, possibly because Nagi already in a much better home lol. And it definitely a good news for me seeing Nagi reach the final, being my topmost favorite character. Many people seems grieving over Rena loss, but we must remember that foreign votes only substitute small proportion of total vote count, so if one got major supports from Japan, then it's hard for the gaijin to overturn the result.
I'm surprised to see that the vote count is quite low for a semi final match (well at least some quarter final have even much higher vote count). Whether because many regard this match as insignificant or because many already left in despair after the loss of their favorite character in previous round. Overall the match went pretty close between the two of them, nothing really separate them until the final hour when Nagi clinched the victory.

Character: Foreign/Japan/Total
Rena: 356/853/1209
Nagi: 254/1047/1301

Nagi certainly got more supports from the locals.

With the loss of Rena, seems like Higurashi may experience RM fate in 2005. And yet again, another loli will be crowned Saimoe 2007 Champion (either Nagi, Rika or Shinku) :3

Next, the battle of another maiden with pride against shrine maiden. Rika vs Shinku in the 2nd semi final.

I've had enough of dolls. The only doll I will consider voting is Suiginto, but she's already out, so it's Rika who got my vote. Plus, I want to see new character+new series in the final. Rika might be boosted by the fact that Rena has lost, but Shinku is also boosted by RM faction. The outcome of this match is unpredictable. Shinku may have the chance to win, because Rika' previous match is possibly overshadowed by RM-faction votes against Louise.
After all neither of them are my favorite.

[Saimoe]Semi 1/KoreanSaimoe final

Voting days has returned for the semi final, Nagi (Hayate no Gotoku) vs Rena(Higurashi no Naku Koro ni).

Both Rena and Nagi are my only favorites left in the tournament, so I don't mind either of them win. But still, Nagi is my no.1 favorite character, so she got my vote.
Sadly though, unlike Korean Saimoe, those who deserve to be in top 8 of the tournament already been knocked out early (Fate, Suiginto, Kagami, Maria, San etc).

.................................................................................................................................................................

Korean Saimoe: Finally the battle has ended.

omg omg omg epic battle!!!! only 2 freaking votes separating the final!!!! What a match...Looking at the time graph and the interval, both of them keep exchanging position (though Hinagiku do better in greater proportion of the 48-hour period). Even in the very final hour Shana leads by 22 votes, but was beaten in the end. Nothing harder to accept than losing by a mere 2 points, for someone who vote for Shana. While those who votes for Hinagiku will be joyous that their vote/s means everything for Hinagiku to win this match.

I could say that both of them win, because if someone (including me) grab 2, 3 votes from my friend computer then I can turn around the result. If only I did what I should do :3 Well at least I don't have much thing to be lament, since as I mention earlier, both are not my ultimate moe character. Still congrats Hinagiku for winning 2007 Korean Saimoe.

With this, Katsura Hinagiku of Hayate the Combat Butler is crowned the Champion of Korean Saimoe 2007. Both of them will return with greater force in Korean Saimoe 2008 =)

1. Hinagiku Katsura______Hayate the Combat Butler_____2015 (50%)
2. Shana_______________Shakugan No Shana_________2013 (50%)

[saimoe] Q4 result/next match preview

Quarterfinal 4
  1. 1位 1697票 真紅@ローゼンメイデン オーベルテューレ(Shinku@Rozen Maiden Ouverture)
  2. 2位 1639票 柊つかさ@らき☆すた(Hiiragi Tsukasa@Lucky Star)

uh...the second Zetsubou for me =( Even more heartbreaking is the way the graph looks like:

What a turn around. While Tsukasa had a constant lead in the beginning, everything changed in the final 2-3 hours when Shinku got some insane burst-votes rush which drive her to get to the top. The data mining also shows that Shinku got more supports from the locals compared to Tsukasa (1400+ to 1200+). RM faction really is something this time, considering Shinku is their only remaining contestant. While the fake votes shows little difference for both of them, though it's still a turn around after the fake votes were deducted.
1位→2位 2235票→1639票 Tsukasa
2位→1位 2170票→1697票 Shinku

Character: Foreign/Japan/Total
Shinku: 296/1401/1697
Tsukasa: 437/1202/1639

Shinku really is backed by the power of the true doll, Alice. Now she's back in the semi final, after her loss in 2005 semi final.
So now another one of my favorite has lost. Though it's still a good performance from Tsukasa to advance this far, only to get beaten by last-hour rush votes. Now she follows the path of her sister, and will return in next year Saimoe which will be more fierce than ever, but without the force of RM (unless...you know what). Now my hopes only lies on Rena and Nagi, who met each other in the next match. Well at least I will still have one of my favorite in the final.

Saimoe takes a day break. Then the semi final match will begin:

sF1 (10/31)
  • 竜宮レナ@ひぐらしのなく頃に(Ryuuguu Rena@Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
  • 三千院ナギ@ハヤテのごとく!(Sanzenin Nagi@Hayate the Combat Butler)

sF2 (11/01)
  • 古手梨花@ひぐらしのなく頃に(Furude Rika@Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
  • 真紅@ローゼンメイデン オーベルテューレ(Shinku@Rozen Maiden Ouverture)
Seems like many people want an all-Higurashi final. But I'd prefer Nagi or Rena to beat Shinku at final :3

.............................................................................................................................................................

Korean Saimoe: The final day of voting for final match between Hinagiku vs Shana! Vote for your favorite moe here!
